Our Mission
At Vinny's ISR of Elizabethtown, our goal is to provide high-quality ISR self-rescue lessons to infants and children ages 6 months to 6 years old. Infants will learn to rollback and float. Toddlers who are walking well and up to age 6 will learn the swim-float-swim sequence. I will customize lessons to your child's needs and aquatic experiences through daily (Monday-Friday) lessons and discussing your child's progress with you as we go. Though each child gets as many lessons as he or she needs to become skilled, an average of 6 weeks is a good expectation. ISR's Mission: Not One More Child Drowns!
Our History
ISR has a strong history of 55 years providing safe and effective self-rescue swimming lessons. Our instructors attend an intensive 8 week training program with hands-on and in-water training, as well as classroom studies to include but not limited to : Child Psychology, Anatomy, and Physiology. Instructors must also recertify annually. Your child will not be the only one to learn through ISR, I will also provide comprehensive parent education on drowning prevention measures you can use in your own home and beyond.
My Story/My Loss
After a career as a Labor and Delivery RN for over 33 years, I left to become an ISR Certified Instructor after tragedy struck our family and we lost my 2 1/2 year old grandson to an accidental drowning while on a family vacation to Florida in March of 2022. It was in the hospital where we learned (too late) about drowning being the #1 cause of accidental death in children ages 1-4 and #2 in children under 14. We also learned about Infant Self Rescue (ISR) lessons that we know would of saved our baby. I was shocked to learn how preventable drowning is, but yet if we had only known! I will make sure to educate you on ALL the ways to keep your child safe as to avoid this tragedy.
